Pine Island

Everyone loves a happy accident, and finding Pine Island was a happy accident.  While near Orlando on another matter, I set out to explore my surroundings and get the lay of the land.  After getting on the phone and losing track of where I was going, I soon came to the Gulf of Mexico and Pine Island.  I forgot just how “skinny” Florida actually is… from the center (i.e. Orlando) it only takes about an hour to get to the Atlantic Ocean to the East or to the Gulf to the West.  Once at Pine Island, I plopped down and watched one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen.  It had everything, you would want: water, clouds, foreground elements, and the bonus of a storm approaching from the far northwest.

Here is a single exposure I grabbed with the 10 stop filter (this is the same filter that accompanied Mike Olbinski to New York and Oregon).  More to come…
