“21 Guns” is the title to a Green Day song and they just so happen to be releasing their live CD/DVD, “Awesome as F***” tomorrow. On one hand the fact that their music is relevant across multiple generations makes me feel “not so old”. On the other hand, I listened to them in high school and that was 20 years ago. Once music is 20 years old I think you are close to the border of “classic rock”, which makes my stomach turn just a little to realize that I now listen to “classic rock”. With all that being said, I will be buying “Awesome as F***” tomorrow first thing because I’m sure it will be “awesome as f***”.
Today’s image is from a killer sculpture in downtown Phoenix by Robert Miley titled “Release the Fear”, www.releasethefear.org. Comprised of 17,000 pounds of melted metal, more than half of that from weapons used in violent crimes, the sculpture rises more than 24 feet into the air. I’ve been here a few different times trying to find a decent composition, and think I shot this sculpture with everything from my fisheye to the nifty fifty to my old school kit lenses. This is one of the few times I’ve used my 200mm lens recently. It’s not particularly sharp until about f8, and although stabilized it’s simply just not fast enough for anything other than under bright lights.
